Wilhelm Molly was born in 1838 in Blasbach, Wetzlar and died 1919 in Neutral Moresnet. He was the chief medical doctor of the Vieille Montagne mining company, Moresnet, Esperantist, and an avid philatelist, tried to organise a local postal service with its own stamps. This enterprise was quickly thwarted by Belgian intervention. In 1908, when Dr. Molly proposed making Neutral Moresnet the world's first Esperanto-speaking state, named Amikejo ("place of friendship").
